Designed specifically to address the harsh operating conditions faced by off-highway mining dump trucks in mining transportation—such as heavy loads, severe bumps, dust corrosion, and alternating high and low temperatures—the product has achieved key breakthroughs in load cushioning, weather resistance and durability, and stable control. As the “mainstay of transportation” in mining operations, off-highway mining dump trucks frequently shuttle back and forth between rugged mine sites and unloading points. The hydraulic suspension system—acting as the vehicle’s “core shock-absorbing and load-bearing component”—directly affects body stability, cargo safety, and equipment service life. Building on more than two decades of accumulated expertise in hydraulic technology, Wantong Hydraulics has launched a targeted R&D initiative to address the core challenges faced by mining transport vehicles: In terms of heavy-load cushioning performance, we have innovatively developed a “multi-chamber oil-gas separation structure.” By optimizing the volume of the gas chambers and precisely controlling hydraulic oil flow, we’ve achieved an exact match between load-carrying capacity and cushioning effectiveness—enabling the vehicle to stably support heavy loads weighing up to hundreds of tons while significantly absorbing shocks from uneven road surfaces, reducing body vibrations, and preventing cargo spillage and fatigue damage to the vehicle frame. To tackle the common issue of uneven loading in mines, we’ve introduced an “adaptive balancing adjustment system” that dynamically adjusts the oil-gas pressure in the left and right suspensions in real time, ensuring that the vehicle remains level even when carrying heavy loads on one side or driving on inclined surfaces, thereby greatly reducing the risk of rollover.
Materials and protection are key to ensuring that oil-and-gas suspension systems can adapt effectively to mining environments. To address the high-dust and highly-corrosive slurry conditions prevalent in mining areas, Wantong Hydraulics carefully selects specialized alloy steels with excellent fatigue resistance and corrosion resistance to manufacture suspension cylinder bodies. Before these cylinders enter the factory, they undergo rigorous multi-stage mechanical performance and corrosion-resistance tests. In the surface treatment stage, an innovative “nano-ceramic coating + chrome-plating composite process” is employed, significantly enhancing the cylinder bodies’ resistance to wear and slurry corrosion while preventing dust adhesion that could lead to seal wear. As for the sealing system, a “dust- and slurry-resistant high-pressure sealing assembly” has been developed, featuring a “multi-layer dust-proof lip + oil-resistant primary seal + support ring” design. This structure effectively blocks mining dust and slurry from entering the suspension system, thereby avoiding hydraulic oil contamination and seal failure. The service life of these seals is markedly longer than that of conventional products, reducing the frequency of maintenance and repairs.
Meanwhile, in response to the varying operating conditions across different mining areas, Wantong Hydraulics offers customized solutions: For high-altitude cold-region mines, we have developed a “low-temperature freeze-resistant hydraulic suspension,” optimizing the hydraulic oil formulation and sealing materials to ensure flexible extension and retraction even in environments as low as tens of degrees below zero. For high-temperature, dry mining areas, we’ve strengthened the suspension’s heat-dissipation structure to prevent the hydraulic oil’s viscosity from dropping and seals from aging due to high temperatures. For ultra-large mining dump trucks, we’ve designed suspensions with large cylinder diameters and long strokes, perfectly suited to handle heavy loads weighing hundreds of tons and ensuring stable transportation in all scenarios.
Strict quality control throughout the entire process safeguards mining transportation safety.
Mine transportation operations are characterized by high intensity and significant risks; failures in hydraulic suspension systems can lead to vehicle downtime and even trigger safety accidents. To address these challenges, Wantong Hydraulics has established a specialized quality-control system for hydraulic suspensions used in off-road mining dump trucks: At the raw-materials stage, we rigorously screen special alloy steels and imported seals, subjecting them to tests such as tensile strength, impact toughness, oil resistance, and corrosion resistance to ensure that material performance fully meets the safety standards for mining equipment. In the manufacturing process, we employ a composite technique combining “precision forging plus CNC deep-hole machining,” achieving an industry-leading level of surface roughness on the cylinder bore interior—thus guaranteeing smooth piston movement and reducing localized stress concentrations. During assembly, we have introduced a “dust-free assembly workshop” to prevent dust and impurities from contaminating the suspension system and affecting its performance; critical components are assembled with precision controlled at the micrometer level.
To simulate real-world transportation conditions in mines, Wantong Hydraulics has established a dedicated testing platform: A heavy-load test bench is used to replicate loads of up to 100 tons, verifying the stability of the suspension’s load-bearing capacity; a bumpy-road test bench mimics the rugged mine terrain, subjecting the suspension to tens of thousands of bump cycles to assess its durability and shock-absorbing performance; a high-and-low temperature cycling chamber simulates extreme temperatures ranging from -40°C to 60°C, ensuring the suspension’s adaptability under such conditions; and a dust-test chamber replicates the highly dusty environment found in mining areas, testing the effectiveness of the suspension’s sealing and protective features. Before leaving the factory, every hydraulic suspension undergoes a rigorous four-stage inspection process: “no-load trial run + high-pressure sealing test + heavy-load balancing test + full visual inspection.” Additionally, each unit must obtain certification from the National Engineering Machinery Quality Supervision and Inspection Center. The factory’s pass rate remains consistently at 100%, effectively eliminating safety hazards at the source.

Currently, Wantong Hydraulics’ hydraulic-pneumatic suspension systems for off-highway mining dump trucks have established deep partnerships with leading domestic mining dump truck manufacturers such as XCMG Mining and Sany Heavy Industry, and are now being integrated into numerous large-tonnage mining dump trucks. A manager from a major coal mining transportation fleet in Inner Mongolia reported that since the mining dump trucks were equipped with Wantong Hydraulics’ hydraulic-pneumatic suspension systems, the vehicles’ bouncing has been significantly reduced, the wear rate of both the chassis and tires has markedly slowed down compared to before, and the rate of cargo spillage has dropped to an extremely low level, resulting in a noticeable increase in monthly transportation efficiency. At the same time, the failure rate of the suspension systems has plummeted, reducing downtime caused by suspension repairs by a substantial amount each year and yielding significant savings in maintenance and replacement costs.
In response to the upgrade needs of aging mining dump trucks, Wantong Hydraulics also offers a “one-to-one customized retrofit service”: Our technical team conducts on-site surveys at mining areas to measure vehicle parameters and, based on the existing vehicle structure and payload requirements, adjusts the suspension cylinder bore, stroke, and connection methods to achieve a precise “new suspension for old vehicles.” For instance, an older mining area in Xinjiang has extended the service life of its long-serving mining dump trucks—and boosted transportation efficiency to new levels—by retrofitting them with Wantong Hydraulics’ hydraulic air-suspension systems. This approach avoids the high costs associated with replacing entire vehicles altogether, significantly reducing equipment upgrade expenses. Furthermore, to ensure continuous transportation operations in mines, Wantong Hydraulics has established an “emergency response mechanism for mining areas,” setting up after-sales service centers at major mining sites across China. These centers can provide remote technical support within 24 hours and on-site repair or replacement services within 48 hours. Additionally, we offer a spare suspension rotation service to minimize downtime losses to the greatest extent possible.
Anchor on smart, green trends and drive product iteration and upgrades.
In response to the trend of intelligent and green transformation in mining equipment, Wantong Hydraulics is accelerating the iterative development of hydraulic-pneumatic suspension technology for off-highway mining dump trucks. Currently, the company has launched research and development on “intelligent monitoring-type hydraulic-pneumatic suspensions,” planning to integrate embedded pressure, displacement, and temperature sensors into the suspension system. These sensors will transmit data—including suspension load, shock-absorption status, and sealing performance—via 5G wireless modules in real time. Mining site personnel will be able to monitor the suspension’s operating status through the vehicle’s central control system or a remote platform, enabling them to proactively identify potential faults such as abnormal pressure or seal wear and implement “preventive maintenance,” thereby further enhancing transportation safety. Meanwhile, in response to the growing demand for new-energy mining dump trucks, the company is developing lightweight hydraulic-pneumatic suspensions that utilize new high-strength, lightweight alloy materials to replace some traditional steel components. By maintaining the same load-bearing capacity while significantly reducing the suspension’s weight, these suspensions will lower the vehicle’s overall energy consumption and help mines achieve low-carbon transportation.
