Analysis of China's Construction Machinery Product Import and Export Situation from January to August 2025

According to customs data, in August 2025, China's construction machinery import and export trade totaled US$5.325 billion, representing a year-on-year increase of 14.4%. Specifically: imports amounted to US$210 million, down 6.1% from the same period last year; exports reached US$5.115 billion, up 15.4% year-on-year. From January to August 2025, China's total construction machinery trade stood at US$40.398 billion, reflecting an 11% growth compared to the same period last year. Among these, imports totaled US$1.8 billion, up 2.84% year-on-year, while exports surged to US$38.597 billion, marking an 11.4% increase over the previous year.
Calculated based on the export value denominated in RMB, In August, exports totaled 36.616 billion yuan, representing a year-on-year increase of 15.9%. From January to August, total exports reached 277.098 billion yuan, up 12.5% compared to the same period last year.

Top 10 Countries and Regions by Export Value of Major Construction Machinery Products from January to August 2025
Looking at the import and export trade of major construction machinery products from January to August 2025, exports to Russia, the United States, and Indonesia ranked in the top three, followed by Brazil, Saudi Arabia, India, the UAE, Australia, Japan, and Vietnam. Compared to January–July 2025, the ranking remained unchanged. Detailed information on the top 10 countries and regions by export value for major construction machinery products from January to August 2025 can be found in Table 1.
Among exports to the six continents, four saw increases, while two experienced declines. Specifically, exports to Africa reached $5.573 billion, up 54.8%; exports to Asia totaled $16.362 billion, growing by 15.9%; and exports to Oceania amounted to $1.385 billion, rising 16.2%. South America reached $4.159 billion, representing a 10.8% increase. Meanwhile, exports declined in the following regions: to Europe, totaling $8.083 billion—a drop of 7.67%; and to North America, amounting to $3.036 billion, down 5.99%. Among the six continents, Asia accounted for the largest share of exports, at 42%. 0.39%, Europe accounts for 20.94%, Africa for 14.44%, South America for 10.78%, while North America and Oceania make up 7.86% and 3.59%, respectively.

In August, excavator exports declined month-on-month, yet from January to August 2025, cumulative exports still grew by 25.14% year-on-year.
From a quarter-over-quarter perspective, In August 2025, China's total exports of excavators (including crawler excavators and wheeled excavators) amounted to US$870 million, a decrease of 7.76% from July's US$943 million.
In August 2025, exports totaled $669 million, representing a year-on-year increase of 30.04% compared to $669 million in the same period of 2024. From January to August 2025, China's cumulative excavator exports reached $6.706 billion, up 25.14% from $5.359 billion in the same period of 2024—marking an acceleration of 0.7 percentage points compared to the growth rate between January and July. From January to August 2025, based on the export rankings of excavators from China’s top 20 destination countries, exports to Indonesia, Russia, and Belgium ranked in the top three. These were followed by Guinea, the Philippines, Mali, Turkey, the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Brazil, respectively. Specific details are shown in Table 2.

Regarding export performance to the European region, Russia saw a month-on-month increase of 51.48%, while Belgium experienced a month-on-month decline. In August 2025, China's exports of excavators to Russia totaled $75.3451 million, up 51.48% from July 2025's $49.7402 million. Meanwhile, looking at the cumulative data, from January to August 2025, China's total exports of excavators to Russia reached $496.4849 million, a year-on-year decrease of 11.86% compared to the same period last year, when the figure was $563.32 million. Turning to Belgium, in August 2025, China's exports of excavators to Belgium amounted to $54.9564 million, down 30.09% from July 2025's $78.6088 million. However, during the January–August 2025 period, China's cumulative exports of excavators to Belgium rose by 7.21% year-on-year, reaching $435.4478 million compared to $406.17 million in the same period last year.
Exports to the Philippines and Vietnam in Southeast Asia grew significantly year-on-year. In August 2025, China's exports of excavators to Indonesia reached US$87.0877 million, a 6.30% decrease from the US$92.9390 million exported in July 2025. From January to August 2025, China's cumulative exports of excavators to Indonesia totaled US$650.2089 million, representing a significant year-on-year increase of 39.15% compared to US$467.26 million during the same period last year. Meanwhile, in August 2025, China's exports of excavators to the Philippines surged to US$36.2216 million, up 16.06% from July's US$31.2103 million and marking a robust 77.91% rise compared to the same period last year when exports stood at US$20.36 million. From January to August 2025, China's total exports of excavators to the Philippines amounted to US$254.3697 million, reflecting a strong year-on-year growth of 20.88% from US$210.43 million in the previous year. Additionally, in August 2025, China's exports of excavators to Vietnam climbed to US$10.3251 million, showcasing a notable 49.42% increase from the US$6.91 million recorded during the same period last year. For the first eight months of 2025, China's cumulative exports of excavators to Vietnam reached US$150.5740 million, up 6.94% from the US$140.80 million exported during the same period last year.
Exports to Guinea and Mali in Africa increased significantly year-on-year. 2 In August 2025, China's exports of excavators to Guinea reached US$23.9751 million, representing a year-on-year increase of 141.93% compared to US$9.91 million in the same period last year. Cumulatively, from January to August 2025, China's total exports of excavators to Guinea amounted to US$261.3889 million, up 181.06% from US$93 million in the same period last year. Meanwhile, in August 2025, China's exports of excavators to Mali totaled US$44.8985 million, marking a 34.65% rise from July's US$33.3454 million and a remarkable 262.38% increase compared to US$12.39 million in the same period last year.
Saudi Arabia's exports to the Middle East region continue their downward trend. In August 2025, China's exports of excavators to Turkey totaled US$22.7426 million, a 9.98% decrease from July's US$25.2639 million. Meanwhile, in Saudi Arabia, China's excavator exports reached US$11.1523 million in August 2025, down 17.49% from July's US$13.5157 million. Looking at the cumulative figures, from January to August 2025, China's total exports of excavators to Saudi Arabia amounted to US$163.0967 million, representing a year-on-year decline of 28.09% compared to the same period last year, when exports stood at US$226.80 million.

In August, China's loader exports increased by 21.04% year-on-year, while the cumulative export value from January to August rose by 7.56%.
In August 2025, China's total export value of loaders reached US$343 million, an increase of 0.70% from July's US$341 million. Compared to 2024, it increased by 21.04% year-on-year, showing a significant rise.
January–August 2025, China's cumulative export value of loaders reached US$2.495 billion, representing a year-on-year increase of 7.56% compared to US$2.320 billion in the same period of 2024. The growth rate increased by 1.9 percentage points compared to January-July 2025. The monthly trend of China's loader exports is illustrated in Figure 4.

From January to August 2025, among the top 20 countries ranked by cumulative export value of loaders from China, exports to the United States, Russia, and Brazil ranked in the top three. These were followed, in order, by Kazakhstan, Belgium, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Australia, and Germany. Specific details are shown in Table 3.

Brazilian exports increased significantly by 96.00% compared to the previous quarter. In August 2025, China's exports of loaders to Brazil totaled US$22.845 million, representing a month-on-month increase of 96.00% from July's US$11.6554 million. From January to August 2025, China's cumulative exports to Brazil reached US$113.1882 million, up 0.37% year-on-year compared to the same period last year when exports stood at US$112.77 million. Turning to the U.S., China's loader exports to the U.S. in August 2025 amounted to US$29.0579 million, a 7.53% rise from July's US$27.0232 million. Meanwhile, from January to August 2025, China's total exports to the U.S. fell by 30.91% year-on-year, dropping to US$189.7966 million compared to US$274.69 million during the same period last year.
Kazakhstan's exports to Central Asia fell by 22.27% compared to the previous quarter, marking a third consecutive month of decline. In August 2025, China's loader exports to Kazakhstan totaled $8.2888 million, a month-on-month decrease of 22.27% from July's $10.6641 million. This marks the third consecutive month of decline. However, looking at the cumulative export figures for January–August 2025 to Kazakhstan, they still showed a year-on-year increase of 18.16%, reaching $87.87 million compared to the same period last year.
In the European region, Russia saw declines both year-on-year and month-on-month, while Belgium and Germany experienced year-on-year growth. In August 2025, China's exports of loaders to Russia reached US$16.7142 million, down 17.02% from July's US$20.1429 million, and a significant 27.39% decrease compared to the same period last year when exports totaled US$23.02 million. Meanwhile, in August 2025, China's loader exports to Belgium amounted to US$14.4318 million, marking a month-on-month decline of 6.43% from July's US$15.4231 million. However, this figure represented a robust 75.78% increase year-on-year compared to August 2024. From January to August 2025, China's cumulative exports of loaders to Belgium totaled US$91.8115 million, up 22.22% from the US$75.12 million recorded during the same period last year. In August 2025, China's loader exports to Germany stood at US$10.8923 million, a month-on-month drop of 17.55% from July's US$13.2115 million, yet still representing a substantial 59.24% surge compared to August of the previous year. Meanwhile, from January to August 2025, China's total loader exports to Germany climbed to US$67.1043 million, reflecting a strong 42.11% growth from the US$47.22 million exported during the same period last year.
Exports to the Middle East region continued to grow, with exports to the UAE increasing sharply by 156.39% compared to the previous quarter. In August 2025, China's loader exports to the United Arab Emirates reached US$14.8188 million, a significant 156.39% increase from July's US$5.7798 million. From January to August 2025, cumulative exports to the UAE totaled US$73.0038 million, up 19.89% compared to US$60.89 million during the same period last year. Meanwhile, in August 2025, China's loader exports to Saudi Arabia amounted to US$7.1230 million, representing a 24.58% rise from July's US$5.7175 million. On the other hand, China's loader exports to Turkey in August 2025 fell by 24.18% compared to July's US$12.7782 million, dropping to US$9.6884 million. However, from January to August 2025, Turkey remained a key market for Chinese loaders, with cumulative exports reaching US$83.6017 million—up 86.78% from US$44.76 million in the same period last year.
