Recently, Wontong Hydraulic Co., Ltd., a leading domestic company in the hydraulic industry (hereinafter referred to as "Wontong Hydraulic"), officially launched a new line of hydraulic cylinders specifically designed for forklifts. This cutting-edge hydraulic component, tailored to meet the core demands of material handling and logistics operations, boasts key advantages such as "precise and synchronized lifting/lowering, full-load compatibility, and exceptional durability across diverse scenarios." It is meticulously engineered to align with forklifts' need for efficient performance in applications like warehousing logistics, port terminals, and manufacturing workshops—further strengthening Wontong Hydraulic's comprehensive product portfolio in the hydraulic systems sector for material-handling equipment.
As the logistics industry undergoes a transformation toward "automation, efficiency, and intensification," forklifts—essential equipment for material handling and short-distance transportation—must now tackle increasingly diverse operational challenges. In warehouse settings, they are required to seamlessly switch between "light-load rapid lifting and lowering" and "heavy-load stable lifting." At port terminals, forklifts must withstand the corrosive effects of humid, salty environments. Meanwhile, manufacturing workshops impose stringent demands on equipment operation, requiring low noise levels and minimal failure rates.
Traditional forklift cylinders, however, often encounter significant limitations when adapting to these demanding tasks. Issues such as "poor synchronization during heavy-load lifting and lowering, leading to material tilting; rapid fatigue and wear of cylinder components after frequent use; and accelerated aging of seals in damp conditions"—not only compromise loading and unloading efficiency but also risk causing additional costs due to material spills or equipment downtime. These challenges have become a major bottleneck, severely hindering the smooth flow of logistics operations.
Addressing the industry's pain points, the Wontong Hydraulic R&D team leveraged more than a decade of accumulated hydraulic expertise and insights gathered from forklift operation scenarios. With the dual goals of "precision in operation" and "enhanced durability," they embarked on a focused technical攻关 effort aimed at developing specialized hydraulic cylinders tailored for forklifts.
The newly launched forklift-specific cylinder breakthroughs across three key areas: First, an innovative dual-chamber flow-precision control technology has been developed, optimizing oil circuit distribution and pressure feedback mechanisms to ensure smooth lifting and lowering of forks—whether under light or heavy loads—thereby effectively mitigating the risk of material tilting caused by poor synchronization in conventional cylinders. Second, the cylinder features high-strength, fatigue-resistant barrel materials combined with a gradient-load-adaptive structural design, enabling it to flexibly meet the operational demands of forklifts ranging from 1 to 10 tons while significantly reducing impact-related wear and tear during frequent lifting and lowering cycles, thus dramatically extending the product's lifespan in high-frequency usage environments. Finally, the corrosion-resistant sealing system has been upgraded; the cylinder surface undergoes multi-layered composite protection, and the seals are crafted from oil- and salt-resistant materials, ensuring reliable performance even in challenging conditions such as humid port environments or dusty warehouse settings—minimizing the likelihood of component rusting or seal failure.
"To ensure product compatibility, we’ve collaborated with leading domestic forklift manufacturers to conduct multiple rounds of real-vehicle testing—ranging from the rapid loading and unloading of small items in e-commerce warehouses to the heavy-duty container handling at ports—comprehensively verifying the cylinder’s stability under various loads and in diverse scenarios," said the head of the Hydraulic Business Division at Wantong Hydraulic Logistics Equipment. He added that the new product not only covers mainstream models such as internal combustion and electric forklifts but can also be customized to meet specific requirements from forklift manufacturers by adjusting cylinder parameters, truly delivering a “one-for-one” tailored solution for each vehicle model.
Currently, Wantong Hydraulics' hydraulic cylinders for forklifts have entered the mass production phase. The first batch of collaborative projects already covers several leading forklift manufacturers in China, and some forklifts equipped with these cylinders have been put into operation at large e-commerce warehousing centers and port logistics parks in the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta regions. Based on feedback from real-world applications, forklifts fitted with the new cylinders demonstrate significantly smoother lifting and lowering motions, reduced risks of material tilting during heavy-load operations, and a notable decline in equipment failure rates—even in humid port environments. As a result, both forklift manufacturers and end-user logistics companies have given their strong endorsement, effectively cutting down on waiting times for logistics loading and unloading processes.
As the first company in China's hydraulic cylinder sector to be listed on the STAR Market, Wantong Hydraulics has consistently positioned "empowering industrial efficiency through technological innovation" as its strategic core. From engineering equipment hydraulic components and automotive cylinders to, most recently, focusing on forklift cylinders tailored for logistics equipment, the company continues to build a cross-sectoral ecosystem of hydraulic products. Moving forward, Wantong Hydraulics will further deepen its technological advancements in forklift cylinders, exploring deep integrations with intelligent forklifts and unmanned warehousing systems. Additionally, the company will develop customized solutions to meet emerging demands such as lightweight designs for electric forklifts and precise control systems for autonomous forklifts, thereby injecting even more "Wantong Hydraulics power" into the high-quality growth of the logistics industry.
